PROJECT STATUS : ACTIVE
  • LAUNCH DATE : JAN 2017

  • PRIMARY TARGET : Airlines

  • PROJECT FUNCTIONAL AREA : Cargo

  • PROJECT FOCUS : Cargo

  • PROJECT SPONSOR : Airsource Partners

Project Summary
Most airlines have traditionally granted little attention to their cargo activity. For many, cargo is seen at best as an opportunistic complement of their passenger activity generating limited but always welcome ancillary revenue.

Cargo however represents a major potential business opportunity for most airlines independently of their models, sizes and fleets.

Airsource Partners’ cargo experts will help you reveal the cargo potential of your Airline and make the best of the highlighted cargo opportunities.

We will help you turn your cargo division to a profit center from the cost center it represents today.

Project Description

With a very few noticeable exceptions, airlines have traditionally granted little attention to their cargo activity. The current tougher economical times have triggered an all-out search for ancillary revenue that has highlighted cargo as a potential contributor of extra cash ignored until now.

The reasons for this situation are multiple. Among them is the fact that most passenger airlines (especially small and medium size airlines) operate a fleet of passenger aircraft with limited belly capacity. Therefore mail and general freight activities were limited in traffic and overall contribution.

Over the years the arrival of new aircraft with larger belly capacity and easier cargo handling systems (wide body aircraft but smaller Airbus and Boeing equipped with containers) have allowed airlines to carry more freight on board in complement of passenger baggage while reducing cargo handling costs, thus giving the cargo activity a greater visibility near the management team.

Also, as opposed to the passenger activity characterized by dwindling yields, cargo yields have maintained at high levels making cargo a more and more lucrative and attractive business for airlines in search of extra cash.

Airsource Partners’ cargo experts can help you unleash the full potential of your cargo activity and identify new sources of revenue.

Our Cargo experts are uniquely qualified to undertake targeted analysis in any or all of the following areas:

=> Strategy: the road to a full cargo profit center
=> Traffic: true contribution of your cargo activity today
=> Cargo systems (booking, tracking, accounting, rev mgt.): needs, relevance of existing systems, selection, implementation
=> Costs: definition, evaluation, allocations (cargo vs. passenger divisions)
=> Cargo loading optimization (pallets & containers)
=> ULD /pallets management: inventory, tracking
=> Customer feedback on service provided: measurement, tracking, feedback
=> Cargo sales force: selection, location, performance
=> Partners selection: ground handling agents, GSAs, forwarders, ..

Airsource Partners’ cargo experts can help you define a well-thought cargo strategy that will help you make the most of your cargo activities.

Do not hesitate to share with us your past experience and expectations in the domain of cargo. We are here to listen to your needs and help you come up with a cargo roadmap that will best serve your Airline in the future.
